Today, there was a significant development in Michigan football recruiting as a new prediction emerged in favor of the Wolverines. This time, Jim Harbaugh and his team received an insider prediction from ON3, indicating their potential to secure the commitment of highly coveted four-star EDGE player, Darien Mayo. Mayo is a key defensive target for the Wolverines in the 2024 class.

Although the Georgia Bulldogs have recently overtaken Michigan’s top-ranked class, the Wolverines remain strong contenders for the number one spot. The addition of Mayo to their roster could potentially be the missing piece that propels them back to the coveted position of the nation’s top-ranked team.

Michigan football recruiting named a finalist for four-star EDGE Darien mayo

Earlier this week, the Michigan Wolverines football program received exciting news as they were named one of the finalists for Darien Mayo, an elite EDGE player in the 2024 recruiting class. Jim Harbaugh and his team have been performing exceptionally well and aim to continue their success with the potential addition of Mayo to their roster.

Initially, when Mayo announced his list of finalists, the Ohio State Buckeyes were considered the primary contender in his recruitment, according to the ON3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. However, following the latest insider prediction, the Wolverines now emerge as the clear front-runners in securing his commitment.

The RPM (Recruiting Prediction Machine) currently favors Michigan football, giving them a 76.5% chance of landing this highly talented defender.

Mayo stands tall at an impressive height of 6-foot-7 and weighs 255 pounds, making him a highly sought-after recruit nationwide. With a top four-star rating by ON3, Mayo holds an outstanding position among the top 90 recruits in the country, specifically ranking at No. 89 overall. He is also recognized as the 8th best EDGE player in the 2024 class and holds the distinction of being the second-highest-ranked recruit in the state of Maryland.
