The Michigan football team is ranked No. 1 nationally right now as the College Football Playoff semi-final approaches. For the Wolverines, who are 13-0 and Big Ten Champions for the second season in a row, a win over the Alabama Crimson Tide would send them to the program’s first-ever national title game. On Wednesday, a few of the team’s top players, such as Roman Wilson and Blake Corum, updated the roster’s overall health heading into the playoff on January 1.

Michigan football team health update ahead of Alabama matchup

Heading into this year’s Michigan football College Football Playoff bout, the Wolverines are mostly healthy — the same could not be said about last year’s team, which saw Blake Corum sidelined, Donovan Edwards playing through injury, and more.

While some players, such as linebacker Junior Colson (hands in casts), may play through some bumps and bruises, it appears that the Michigan football team is generally in good health as their date with the Alabama Crimson Tide in the Rose Bowl approaches.

“I think the whole year, even though somebody (might be) banged up, everyone’s been moving pretty well and slowly going up to the top and perfecting their game,” Roman Wilson said.

“We’ll practice really hard — have a walk-through, full speed, just not hitting,” Blake Corum added. “… Our bodies are feeling good.”

“Feeling pretty good,” added sophomore defensive tackle Kenneth Grant. “(We got) like a week off, but feeling pretty good — back in action (this week).”

Stars like Blake Corum and Roman Wilson are optimistic about team health heading into the College Football Playoff

It has been widely noted that the Michigan football coaching staff made some major changes to the practice plan this fall, including more rest time for the Wolverines ahead of their College Football Playoff matchup. Throughout the week, we’ve heard from coordinators and players alike, all of whom have had some very positive things to say about the new schedule.

Of course, it’s the time of year when players are bound to be a bit banged up — that’s just football. That being said, Michigan football appears to be well-positioned for success against Alabama when the time comes to take the field in the Rose Bowl on New Year’s Day.
