This weekend, Michigan football will be hosting its final wave of official visitors. The Wolverines have been performing well this month, making this final wave as important as ever for the Maize and Blue. One of Jim Harbaugh’s top targets is Gatlin Bair, a four-star top 50 recruit who is also ranked as the No. 1 recruit in Idaho according to the 247 Sports composite rankings.
A crucial test on the recruiting trail for Michigan football
Gatlin Bair has an interesting situation. Technically, he is a recruit in the 2024 class. However, due to his plans of going on a two-year mission after high school, he will not officially sign with his future team until 2026. Nevertheless, his talents and physical attributes perfectly suit the needs of Michigan’s future football offense, making him highly valuable for the Maize and Blue in this recruiting cycle.
Furthermore, in addition to being a high school football star and one of the top-ranked recruits in his class, Gatlin Bair is also a major track star who recently broke an Idaho state record.
According to the composite rankings, Bair is the No. 44 recruit in the nation, the No. 10 wide receiver in his recruiting class, and the No. 1 recruit in Idaho. His list of finalists includes five teams: Michigan, Nebraska, Oregon, TCU, and Boise State. Among these five, it appears that the Cornhuskers are in great shape. However, this weekend’s visit may change things.
Weekend visit may sway No. 1 recruit in Idaho
During the weekend, the Maize and Blue will be hosting several top-ranked targets, including Gatlin Bair. The Michigan football coaching staff will undoubtedly be focused on securing his commitment as the Wolverines strive to solidify their position.
Currently, the Maize and Blue already have a five-star quarterback committed, along with a four-star wide receiver. Jordan Shipp and Gatlin Bair, both four-star wideouts, are currently top priorities for the Wolverines. Jim Harbaugh aims to keep Michigan’s national title window wide open for years to come with major talents like these, which should be evident when this elite 2024 class gets on campus next year.
