On Tuesday afternoon, On3 Sports released its top-10 linebackers list ahead of the 2023 college football season this fall. On it was a brand new yet familiar face for Wolverine fans: Michigan football transfer addition Earnest Hausmann from Nebraska. Hausmann, who was just added to the Wolverines’ roster a few months ago, is already bringing in loads of national attention as he came in at No. 9 on On3’s list.

Ernest Hausmann is a rising true sophomore that just arrived in Ann Arbor via the transfer portal. As a transfer portal prospect, Hausmann was rated among the best prospects in the country; in fact, at the time that he committed to Michigan, Hausmann was the No. 1 player in the portal.

Now, heading into a massive 2023 season with the Michigan Wolverines, Hausmann has some massive expectations on his shoulders. According to On3, he is a top-10 (No. 9) linebacker in the sport.

Hausmann could lead the Wolverines’ defense

As a freshman with Nebraska, Ernest Hausmann posted 54 tackles (36 solo), one sack, and recovered one fumble. His best game to date came in November against his new team, the Michigan Wolverines, when he recorded 10 tackles, one tackle for loss, and one sack in Nebraska’s 34-3 loss in Ann Arbor.

Now, as we turn the page into the 2023 season this fall, Hausmann is gearing up for a monster season in the Maize and Blue alongside an elite Wolverine defense. It has only been a few months, and we are already seeing Michigan football transfer additions thrive.
