The Wolverines’ 2023 transfer portal class is a major reason that the team is 13-0 with a third straight Big Ten title and College Football Playoff appearance right now. As the team continues to prep for the Rose Bowl against Alabama, which could send them to the national title game next month, Jim Harbaugh and Michigan football continue to search the transfer portal in hopes of strengthening their 2024 roster. One major Big Ten target that the Wolverines have been trending for is ex-Maryland linebacker Jaishawn Barham, who national analysts and local insiders expect will be in the Maize and Blue next season.
Michigan football trending for Big Ten transfer portal target
Jim Harbaugh has taken some absolute gems from the transfer portal over the past few seasons, including top-ranked performers like Olu Oluwatimi, Drake Nugent, Josaiah Stewart, and many more. In fact, a large reason that Michigan football has been able to win three straight Big Ten titles and more has been the team’s ability to take transfer portal stars and reload their roster on an annual basis.
Jaishawn Barham, a Maryland linebacker and former four-star recruit out of District Heights, MD, is the latest Michigan football transfer portal target who is earning crystal balls to commit to the Maize and Blue. From local Michigan insiders like Steve Lorenz to national reporters, it appears that the former Terrapin is leaning heavily towards committing to the Wolverines.
Rankings and info for Maryland linebacker Jaishawn Barham
As a transfer portal recruit, Jaishawn Barham ranks as the No. 116 overall player and the No. 5 linebacker in the portal — Michigan football has been trending for him for a little while now, even getting him on campus for a visit last weekend. This week, however, things really started to turn in favor of Michigan, as crystal balls started to roll in. On Wednesday and Thursday, crystal balls began rolling in with high confidence levels that Jaishawn Barham may be picking Michigan.
While the Big Ten transfer target did not see too much action during his time with Maryland, Michigan football will still be getting a large, talented linebacker if it can lock him down. He stands at 6-foot-4 and weighs over 235 pounds, and while Junior Colson still has a decision to make regarding the NFL, the Wolverines will be losing Michael Barrett at the very least. This means that Michigan will benefit from one, maybe two, linebacker pickups from the transfer portal.
Keep an eye on Michigan football as it targets Jaishawn Barham and others from the transfer portal leading up to the Rose Bowl game.
