The University of Michigan is taking massive strides towards NIL for its student athletes. While football and basketball have been the most relevant and effective at raising NIL funds, the Michigan hockey team took matters into its own hands.

The Michigan hockey student-athletes launched a site with the NIL Club. The NIL club is an online community run directly by the student-athletes. It gives fans the opportunity to interact with their favorite team and get behind the scenes content from the Wolverines themselves.

There are 22 current players partaking in this new NIL initiative. The NIL Club is similar to a social media platform, but only the subscribers get the exclusive content. The players can talk with fans, post messages and videos, and even podcasts.

This week, the team announced they will be starting a new podcast called “Inside Michigan Hockey,” where each week they will have different players on to talk about their lives as student-athletes at the University of Michigan. This is a massive step in the right direction regarding NIL, especially with Michigan Hockey.

How To Support

To be a part of the Michigan hockey team’s NIL Club, fans will need to make a monthly commitment to the club. Fans can pay what they can, or what they want to pay. This site is something new and something we haven’t seen much before. This is just a small way for fans to support the team in any way they can.
