Michigan Wolverines football earns praise from unlikely source

While it may seem unlikely, Ohio State legend Urban Meyer had a lot of good things to say about Michigan Wolverines football.

So far this year, Urban Meyer has grilled Michigan Wolverines football time and time again for its weak schedule and more. That said, the Maize and Blue are 6-0 (3-0 Big Ten) heading into this weekend’s game against the Indiana Hoosiers, and pending an upset, the Wolverines will be undefeated heading into their first notable Big Ten game of the year at Michigan State in Week 8. While Meyer is likely the last person that Michigan fans expect to hear praise from, he gave Jim Harbaugh’s team some love recently.

Urban Meyer thinks that Michigan football is well-coached — as does the rest of the nation. Here is what he had to say about the Wolverines.

“There’s a lot to be said to that, and that means you’re team’s well coached, you’re team’s prepared, and there must be really good leadership on the team,” Urban Meyer said of Jim Harbaugh and Michigan football. “Well, they do, they’ve got a very veteran team, and they’re doing it very impressively.”

Urban Meyer backtracks on Nebraska take

Before the Nebraska game, Urban Meyer went on record saying that he thought Michigan and Nebraska would be a good game — he was very wrong. The Wolverines, who downed the Cornhuskers 45-7 all said and done, obliterated Nebraska early on, impressing Meyer even more.

“To go on the road to Nebraska, I actually said that game might be close — it wasn’t close,” Urban Meyer said. “I thought Nebraska’s defense would hang in there a little bit but they didn’t. And then Minnesota is not a walk in the park — that is a tough place to go play.

“But we all know (the Big Ten title race) is going to come down to a three-game series,” the FOX analyst said. “I mean, (Michigan football plays) at Penn State and then Ohio State up there. So they’re doing what they’re supposed to do.”
