PASADENA — JJ McCarthy is the quarterback and leader of the Michigan Wolverines, who are ranked No. 1 in the country right now heading into tomorrow’s game against No. 4 Alabama in the Rose Bowl. When this season comes to an end, there is a solid chance that McCarthy will leave for the NFL; however, in his place will be several solid QBs, including new 2024 Michigan football quarterback Jadyn Davis, who has already caught the eye of captain Blake Corum and others.

New Michigan football quarterback already a leader

Jadyn Davis, as well as a few other Michigan football signees in the class of 2024, made the trip out to LA to help Michigan prep for tomorrow’s Rose Bowl game against the Alabama Crimson Tide, which could vault U-M into the national title game in Houston.

Throughout the week, we’ve heard a lot about Jadyn Davis — he likely won’t be starting in 2024, but it’s clear that Jim Harbaugh and the Michigan football coaching staff are impressed thus far. One aspect of Davis’s game that captain Blake Corum took note of is his leadership, something that cannot be taught but is arguably more valuable than any of the signee’s physical traits.

“I already see in him how he is going to be a great leader,” Corum said. “He is a go-to guy. He got in front of the team with the other early enrollees, and he just spoke well. As a quarterback, you need to be a leader on the team. You need to be the field general just like JJ (McCarthy) is, and I see that in Davis. I’m excited to see how he can grow over the offseason and spring ball.

“Coming in early is a huge benefit, and so I’m excited to see his growth and see what he can do because he is going to be special,” he added.

Blake Corum not the only one praising Jadyn Davis

While Blake Corum certainly had a lot of good things to say about the Michigan football quarterback enrollee, he was not the only Wolverine to be asked about Jadyn Davis lately. In fact, offensive coordinator Sherrone Moore added more on Davis ahead of the Rose Bowl.

“Yeah, (Davis) has been great, man,” Sherrone Moore said. “Smart, tactical, great arm, accurate. He’s going to be a really good player for us.”

Just a tremendous athlete, tremendous thrower of the football,” added current quarterback JJ McCarthy. “I trained with him a couple of times this past summer, and the sky is the limit for him. Just such a great leader, such a great teammate. Just have so many good things to say about him, but I can’t wait for him to show you guys.”

The College Football Playoff starts tomorrow, meaning the new Michigan football quarterback only has one — maybe two — more games until he can officially suit up for the Wolverines. The JJ McCarthy era has been fruitful for Michigan thus far, and it appears that the Jadyn Davis era is off to a hot start as well.

Per the composite rankings, Davis is currently a four-star quarterback, ranking as the No. 93 overall player nationally, the No. 7 quarterback, and the No. 2 player in the state of North Carolina.
