Drake Nugent, a transfer portal commit for the Wolverines, stood out as a center during his days with the Stanford Cardinal; however, since he was with a struggling PAC-12 program, his name has yet to really hit the spotlight. That said, all fall camp reports show that he is fitting in quite well so far and is one of the hardest workers in the locker room despite being one of the newest additions. According to Trevor Keegan, who addressed the media this morning, this new Michigan football transfer is “like an angry pitbull” during practice.

New Michigan football transfer Drake Nugent is standing out in a big way

Drake Nugent is not the biggest center in college football, but his work ethic and aggressiveness make up for it. Per Michigan football guard Trevor Keegan, one of the best linemen in the sport right now, Nugent’s tenacity makes him a perfect fit for the Wolverines’ elite offensive line.

“Yeah, Drake — I look at him as just like an angry pitbull,” said offensive line star Trevor Keegan. “Everything he does is full-go, full-go, full-go. Even like winter workouts, spring workouts, and summer workouts — everything he does is 100%, and he works his tail off. Obviously, he’s a little undersized (for a Power 5 center), but his tenacity and his work ethic really makes up for that. He is obviously a really good dude, and we’ve become really close (since he got to Michigan).”

Throughout the coming season, new Michigan football transfer Drake Nugent will likely step into a starting role at center — he will be replacing Olu Oluwatimi, Michigan’s 2022 center, who became the most decorated lineman in program history in just one year with the Wolverines.

This fall, with a national title and more in the crosshairs, Michigan football is likely going to lean on Nugent heavily to lead the offensive line and deliver on Keegan’s comparison to “an angry pitbull.”
