It has been a long time coming for Michigan football in its rivalry with the Ohio State Buckeyes — after two decades of little success, Jim Harbaugh and his staff have things moving in the right direction for the Maize and Blue. Yesterday, acting head coach Sherrone Moore led the Wolverines to an impressive 30-24 win over the Buckeyes, their third in a row, leading Ryan Day to feel “just sick” after the game, especially since it’s clear that his seat is getting warmer.

Michigan football downs Ohio State yet again

Sherrone Moore is now 1-0 against Ohio State football, and since the start of the decade, the Buckeyes are yet to beat the Wolverines. While yesterday’s win over Ohio State was not quite the 42-27 win in 2021 or the 45-23 beatdown that we all witnessed last fall, it was an impressive and gritty win for the Maize and Blue.

The coach in Columbus before Ryan Day was Urban Meyer, who went 7-0 against Michigan football during his tenure. In fact, it has been quite some time since a Buckeye coach lost 75% of his games against the Wolverines, yet here we are with Day at the helm.

Ryan Day “sick” following loss to the Wolverines

Ryan Day knows that beating Michigan football, especially when OC Sherrone Moore is at the helm, is essential if he wants to keep his job in Columbus. After the game, he was seemingly shocked and said that he felt sick.

“(I feel) just sick,” Ohio State coach Ryan Day explained. “The fact that we came up short in this game. (We prepare) the whole year for it, and we came up short.”

Is Ohio State a playoff team following third straight Michigan football loss?

With the loss to Michigan, the Buckeyes fall to 11-1 on the season and will not contend for the Big Ten Championship next weekend. Ryan Day also addressed whether or not he thinks the Buckeyes are a College Football Playoff-caliber team after losing to Sherrone Moore and the Wolverines once again.

“I haven’t even thought that far. Just playing in this game, everything is so focused on this game. Yeah, I’d have to kind of process that. We have a very good team,” Day said. “We came up short today, and it’s devastating, but I believe in our players; I think we have a veteran team. I think we have a team that’s solid in all three phases. And, I’d have to kind of see what else is out there. … I do believe that this team can play with anybody in the country.”
