A season ago, the Michigan football offense was one of the best in the country, ranking among the top 6 in both total offense and scoring offense en route to an impressive 13-1 Big Ten title-winning season. This year, the offensive coaching staff looks a bit different, with Sherrone Moore taking over at the helm, and Matt Weiss out of the picture.
According to Moore, this year’s offensive line is looking to raise the standard in Ann Arbor.
Michigan football offensive line looking to take the next step
Following an outstanding season in 2022, the Michigan Wolverines found themselves with limited options when it came to selecting an offensive coordinator. Sherrone Moore, who had led the Michigan football offense to one of its most successful seasons under Jim Harbaugh, played a crucial role in this transformation.
In 2022, the Michigan offense ranked in the top 6 in both total offense and scoring offense. Without Moore’s contributions, it is uncertain whether the Wolverines would have been able to regain their current level of success.
“Now, it’s just the standard. Not necessarily winning the award every year, but the standard of the level of play,” Moore said per ON3. “We’ve raised the standard. Raised the bar and kind of brought it back to the Michigan lines of old.”
Sherrone Moore is the perfect man for the job
Moore’s exceptional abilities as an offensive play-caller made him the obvious choice for Jim Harbaugh, particularly given the high expectations facing the Wolverines in the upcoming season. This fall, Michigan football is set to showcase their most formidable offense to date.
The team boasts a wealth of experience and talent across every position, supported by impressive depth and notable transfer additions.
With these assets in place, it is highly anticipated that the Wolverines will possess the most potent offense in the Big Ten for the 2023 season. Anchored by an elite offensive line, reliable pass-catchers, a seasoned five-star quarterback, and the nation’s best running back duo, Michigan has a legitimate chance to secure their first national title in over 25 years.
