The 2023 season is just 49 days away from kicking off for the Maize and Blue, who are searching for a third-straight Big Ten title, a College Football Playoff appearance, and much more in the months to come. The coming year holds immensely high expectations for head coach Jim Harbaugh, who currently has what many believe to be the best roster that Ann Arbor has seen in decades. This fall, keep an eye on Michigan football freshman edge rusher Enow Etta, who may be in store for a huge year during his first season with the Maize and Blue.

Michigan football freshman edge rusher could make a splash this season

Enow Etta, a former top 250 recruit in the 2023 Michigan football recruiting class, was a major addition to Jim Harbaugh’s newest freshman class. According to the ON3 industry recruiting rankings, Etta was one of the top-ranked players in Michigan’s 2023 cycle, ranking as the No. 123 player in the nation, the No. 15 edge rusher in his class, and the No. 22 player in the state of Texas.

Heading into the 2023 college football season, the Wolverines are looking to replenish some major talent losses at the edge rusher position. With new transfer portal additions, such as four-star edge Josaiah Stewart out of Coastal Carolina, Michigan appears to be in good shape. That said, this Michigan football freshman edge rusher seems to be in great shape to make an impression throughout the coming months.

In fact, according to Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh — who is heading into his 9th season as the head man in Ann Arbor — Enow Etta is a star on the field and in the classroom.

“Very bright, smart young man, wants to be an engineer, and he’s got the smarts and grades to do it,” Jim Harbaugh said of Enow Etta following National Signing Day. “Another three-sport athlete — football, basketball, track. He builds computers from scratch. He orders the parts, puts them together. And had over 100 tackles, 34 TFLs, and 20 sacks.

“And I think he had over like 60 sacks in his four years in high school. So somebody that knows how to get to the quarterback. Athletic and really strong and super bright — so great combination. Gonna thrive here in our engineering school.”

Keep an eye on Enow Etta

This Michigan football freshman edge rusher has the potential to make a significant impact along the Wolverines’ impressive defensive line this fall. Whether it’s a breakout season or not, be prepared to hear the name ‘Etta’ frequently throughout this season and in the future as the Maize and Blue continue their pursuit of more Big Ten titles and, perhaps, a national championship.
