Jim Harbaugh’s 2024 recruiting class is impressive, to say the least. Right now, it boasts 26 hard commits and counting, with a number of top targets starting to finalize their decisions ahead of the 2023 season. That said, with star players like Jadyn Davis, Jordan Marshall, and others already committed, who is the No. 1 Michigan football recruiting target left in the 2024 class?

Who is the No. 1 Michigan football recruiting target left in the 2024 class?

There are several candidates for the title of the top remaining Michigan football recruiting target in the 2024 class. However, the Wolverines can eliminate some of the more unrealistic targets in the class, such as five-star Ryan Wingo, among others. While Michigan may still have a shot with targets like Wingo, it’s safer to take a closer look at a few of the recruits that Michigan is legitimately trending for.

Aaron Scott

One of these recruits is four-star cornerback Aaron Scott, the No. 1 player in the state of Ohio. Scott will be committing on July 30th, and from the looks of things, this race has come down to Michigan and Ohio State. Additionally, reports suggest that Scott is eyeing another unofficial visit with the Wolverines before committing, which may bode well for Jim Harbaugh. If Aaron Scott does pick the Maize and Blue, he may be the best Michigan recruiting win of all time, beating the Buckeyes for the top player in their own state.

Gatlin Bair

Up there with Scott is four-star wide receiver Gatlin Bair, who is trending to choose Michigan football recruiting all said and done. The Wolverines appear poised to land this elite wide receiver in the 2024 class, though he will not sign until the 2026 cycle comes around due to his plans of taking a two-year mission after graduating high school. Still, he is a major target and is considered to be the fastest recruit in the nation. Michigan seems close here and could secure another elite prospect soon.

The verdict

Other top targets may include players like Ryan Wingo (wide receiver) and Bennett Warren (offensive tackle), though neither seems to be as important as Scott and Bair for the Maize and Blue. Additionally, while Bair is a top target for the Wolverines, we pin him as the No. 2 target for the Wolverines, with Aaron Scott being Michigan’s main focus for the time being.
