Yesterday afternoon, Jim Harbaugh’s Michigan football recruiting class landed a major prospect — four-star in-state defensive lineman Bobby Kanka — just days after the BBQ at the Big House event in Ann Arbor, MI. Not only is Kanka one of the top prospects in the 2025 recruiting class, but he is also a significant target for Michigan, ranking as the 6th-best player in the state and hailing from Howell, MI. With this new massive commitment, Michigan’s future class is on the rise, threatening the top-5 nationally.

2025 Michigan football recruiting class close to breaking top-5 following new major commitment

The 2025 recruiting class is looking promising for Michigan football. After yesterday’s commitment, the Wolverines are inching closer to breaking the top-5 in the composite rankings, now ranking as the No. 6 class nationally and the No. 2 class in the Big Ten. The only class ahead of Michigan in the Big Ten is the Penn State Nittany Lions, who come in at No. 5.

With Bobby Kanka, the Michigan football recruiting class now has a massive defensive lineman to build around. The Wolverines are known for dominating the line of scrimmage, and seeing as Kanka possesses both size and skill, it appears that this trend will continue. Currently, Kanka is ranked as the 17th-best defensive lineman in the nation and the 6th-best player in the state of Michigan. The 2025 Michigan football recruiting class only has three commitments thus far, all of which are notable four-star players. Nonetheless, it’s already looking promising and could become one of Jim Harbaugh’s best if the Maize and Blue can continue to secure top-ranked talent in the cycle.
