In the past few seasons, the Wolverines have seen a lot of action in the transfer portal, both with outbound and inbound players. With the college football season underway, several notable Michigan football transfer losses have already started to make a bang with their new team. Here are three noteworthy debut performances from former Wolverines Cade McNamara, Erick All, and Joe Milton.

Three Michigan football transfer losses impress in debut with new team

Cade McNamara — Quarterback

In 2021, Cade McNamara led the Wolverines to their first Big Ten championship since 2004, and their first College Football Playoff appearance in program history. Despite a rough start to the 2022 season — which was cut short due to a knee injury — it is clear that McNamara can still sling the rock.

In his drive as a Hawkeye, McNamara made a splash by hitting wide receiver Seth Anderson for a 36-yard touchdown on only the second play of the season. McNamara continued to play well, ending the night with 191 passing yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions.

With McNamara at quarterback, Iowa could be a strong contender to win the Big Ten West, and could even play Michigan football for the conference title.

Erick All — Tight end

Joining McNamara at Iowa is tight end Erick All. In 2021, both McNamara and All were team captains. That season, All collected 38 receptions for 437 receiving yards.

The chemistry between the two has now carried over to Iowa. Last week, All had three receptions, including McNamara’s second touchdown pass. This duo could be a dangerous weapon for the Hawkeyes in 2023.

Joe Milton — Quarterback

While Joe Milton has been gone for three years now, this will be his first season as the starting quarterback with Tennessee. After patiently waiting behind Hendon Hooker for two years, Milton is now getting a chance to showcase the arm talent that was displayed in his time at Michigan.

In his first game as the starter, Milton threw for 201 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions. He also showed off his scrambling abilities, rushing for two touchdowns as well.

Milton has elite athleticism and is now in his sixth season of college football, making him a strong veteran presence for the Volunteers as well as a talented quarterback.
