After John Beilein left the Wolverines following the 2018-19 season, Michigan basketball turned to a new man to lead the program — former Fab-Five star, Juwan Howard. Recently, a major five-star Michigan basketball recruiting target, Trey McKenney, broke down what the appeal of playing for a coach like Howard is for some of the nation’s top prospects.

Trey McKenney is a huge target for Michigan basketball recruiting in the class of 2025; the Wolverines are looking to replenish their talent and get back on track for the years to come. Howard made back-to-back Sweet 16 runs and won an outright Big Ten title a few years ago.

However, last season, it was clear that something needs to change for the Maize and Blue down the road, as Michigan missed the tournament altogether.

While Michigan’s most recent season was disappointing, Juwan Howard still has plenty of appeal as a head coach. Here is what Trey McKenney, a five-star target in the class of 2025, has to say.

“Coach Juwan Howard has played and coached at the highest level; he’s been there,” McKenney said, per ON3. “So he’s been teaching me things, calling me, talking with me, helping me out like that.”

This season will be crucial for Juwan Howard and Michigan basketball, as the Wolverines aim to regain title contention within the conference and on a national scale.
