Tomorrow, the No. 2-ranked Wolverines (6-0, 3-0 Big Ten) are set to host the Indiana Hoosiers (2-3, 0-2 Big Ten) at the Big House in Ann Arbor. While the weather likely won’t be ideal, Michigan football quarterback JJ McCarthy is still expected to play a major role for the Maize and Blue, perhaps leading his team to a 7-0 start for the second time in a row as a starter. Ahead of this Week 7 matchup in Ann Arbor, MI, top college football analyst Joel Klatt explains that McCarthy is the ‘perfect’ quarterback for Michigan and more, giving seemingly endless praise to Michigan’s junior signal caller.
Michigan football quarterback JJ McCarthy continues to impress time and time again
So far this fall, despite having played zero snaps past the third quarter, Michigan football quarterback JJ McCarthy has been playing at an elite level. McCarthy is completing nearly 80% of his passes right now and has thrown for about 1,300 yards, 11 touchdowns, and a trio of interceptions. If that was not enough, his QBR of 93.6 is the best in the country in Week 7, and his team is among the nation’s top CFP contenders for the time being.
College football analyst Joel Klatt gives his own take on McCarthy and the Wolverines
Joel Klatt, one of the most trusted voices in all of college football, has been impressed with JJ McCarthy so far — he also thinks that JJ is the perfect quarterback for Michigan football.
“(Michigan’s) quarterback seems to (not care about stats),” Joel Klatt said on his show. “Zero cares, zero cares about his stats. You see, if they had a guy that went there and wanted more NIL dollars, wanted to throw for, you know, lead the country in passing. Wanted to throw 40 touchdown passes. It wouldn’t work — because a player like that would be too selfish for Michigan.
“JJ McCarthy, in a lot of ways, is the perfect guy — not just as a player — but (is the perfect) guy for Michigan. Because he doesn’t care if throws it 18, 19, 20 times. Because he knows that’s why they win.”
Michigan football set for Week 7 battle against the Indiana Hoosiers
Michigan football opens as a massive favorite against the Indiana Hoosiers in Week 7 — a game that will be played in rainy weather for the Wolverines’ fifth home game of the 2023 season. While the Michigan State Spartans await Michigan the following weekend, rest assured knowing this Michigan team is 100% locked in on downing IU tomorrow and getting to East Lansing with a perfect record on the line.
Also, know that — according to Joel Klatt and so many others — Michigan football has a perfect quarterback to lead it to a national title this fall: JJ McCarthy.
