Today, the 2024 Michigan football recruiting class landed its 23rd commitment of the cycle. The Wolverines have been getting hot this month, and to close out the month of June, it appears that the Maize and Blue are gearing up for a few huge blue-chip targets. The first domino to fall happened today at 1:00 PM with the addition of Dominic Nichols out of Oakdale High School in Maryland.

Michigan football beats out Big Ten West foe for four-star edge rusher

According to the ON3 Industry Rankings, Dominic Nichols, a four-star edge rusher in the 2024 recruiting class and the Wolverines’ newest commit, is considered one of the top 25 pass rushers in his class.

A few weeks ago, after an impressive official visit with the Wisconsin Badgers, it seemed that Luke Fickell was making progress in persuading Nichols to choose a different school over Ann Arbor. However, the following weekend, Jim Harbaugh made a strong comeback and regained control of Nichols’ recruitment.

Yesterday, the new commit for Michigan football announced that he would be committing on Sunday afternoon. With this latest addition, the current Michigan football recruiting class now has a total of 23 hard commits. Prior to the 2024 class, the highest number of recruits Jim Harbaugh had secured for the Maize and Blue before July 1st was 16, which occurred in the 2021 cycle.

This new commitment is a reason for excitement for Michigan football. The Wolverines have successfully recruited a massive 6-foot-5, 240-pound edge rusher who is ranked as the No. 380 recruit in the nation, the No. 25 edge rusher, and the No. 11 recruit in the state of Maryland. Michigan prevailed over several top programs, notably Wisconsin, in securing Dominic Nichols’ commitment.
