This weekend is shaping up to be a solid one for Michigan football recruiting in the 2024 and 2025 classes. With a notable four-star commitment likely in the works for later today, even more interesting news may be on the horizon as a major five-star quarterback from the 2025 cycle is currently in Ann Arbor. George MacIntyre, the No. 12 recruit in the nation and the No. 2 quarterback in his recruiting class, is visiting with the Maize and Blue — a positive early sign for Jim Harbaugh on the recruiting trail.

According to a recent announcement on his social media, five-star quarterback George MacIntyre is currently in Ann Arbor for a pivotal recruiting visit with Michigan football.

While Bryce Underwood, the nation’s top recruit, remains the primary focus for the Maize and Blue in the 2025 recruiting cycle, George MacIntyre appears to be a highly desirable alternative. This weekend, Underwood is making a trip down south to visit the Alabama Crimson Tide, emphasizing the importance of exploring other options.

The Industry Rankings position George MacIntyre as a significant five-star quarterback in the 2025 recruiting class. He is ranked as the No. 12 recruit nationally, the No. 2 quarterback in his cycle, and the No. 1 recruit in the state of Tennessee. While the Recruiting Prediction Machine does not currently favor Michigan as the front-runner, the Wolverines remain among the top 5 contenders. It is still early in the race, making it difficult to predict the outcome at this stage.

Securing five-star quarterbacks in future classes is crucial for the program’s sustained success. If the Wolverines aim to maintain their competitiveness in the years to come, prioritizing the quarterback position is essential. Currently, former five-star quarterback JJ McCarthy leads Michigan football, and in the future, 2024 five-star QB Jadyn Davis is expected to take over.

As previously mentioned, the Wolverines’ top priority is Bryce Underwood, who attends Belleville High School, located approximately 25 minutes from Ann Arbor. However, if Jim Harbaugh fails to secure Underwood in the 2025 cycle, it is likely that MacIntyre will become a primary target for the Maize and Blue.
