Colin Cowherd, the host of FOX’s ‘The Herd,’ is one of the most watched and trusted voices in all of sports. Yesterday, he had some strong opinions on the Michigan football sign-stealing scandal, involving Connor Stalions and more, which has taken the college football news cycle by storm this week. Despite what you may have seen on social media, Cowherd decided to seemingly side with the Wolverines on this one.

Michigan football and Connor Stalions are facing a lot of public scrutiny and outrage right now; however, one of the top voices in sports thinks all of this is comparable to Tom Brady’s “Deflategate.” Sure, the Wolverines may get into some trouble for breaking rules — if the NCAA can prove that Michigan did, in fact, break rules — but Cowherd clearly thinks this is all being overblown.

“It’s because you couldn’t beat them,” Cowherd said. “And right now, nobody can touch Michigan. They humiliate Ohio State, who humiliates generally the rest of the conference. If Purdue was doing this, nobody would care — it would be the eighth story on FOXSports.com. Nobody would care.

“It’s not changing the games, the scores or the outcomes,” Colin Cowherd said. “You know who is good this year? The same teams that were good in the 1970s — Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan, Alabama, Oklahoma. It is all the same teams that were good 40 and 50 years ago.”

Colin Cowherd also called out fans on social media for what he seems to believe is a massive overreaction to this alleged rule-bending by the Michigan football program.

“When you go from zero to 60 — when you go from, ‘I didn’t know a rule existed,’ to, ‘I’m totally outraged by it.’ What was really the outrage with Deflategate — it was Tom (Brady), and nobody could beat Tom. And if you go back and look at the numbers with Tom, they were better post-deflategate. He was better after he was ‘nabbed.’ It was total nonsense and a total non-story, but it was Tom. And this is about (Jim) Harbaugh, who has completely distanced himself (and Michigan football) from even Ohio State, and that is not easy to do.”
