The Michigan football offense appears to finally be catching its stride, leading the way to a head-turning 45-7 victory at Nebraska last weekend. During the Wolverines’ Week 5 win, two rising stars picked up their first touchdown in the Maize and Blue: Jayden Denegal (sophomore QB) and Peyton O’Leary (junior WR), who connected on a late-game eight-yard touchdown pass. While there is a lot of depth ahead of these two, O’Leary’s touchdown (and solid spring game performance) make him a less-known player to watch for Wolverines fans this year.

During the Michigan football spring game at the Big House back in April, Peyton O’Leary was perhaps one of the top players on the field. O’Leary — a junior wide receiver for the Wolverines — is yet to truly get his chance, but it appears that his time may be coming soon.

Jayden Denegal found O’Leary in the end zone against Nebraska, further extending Michigan’s massive lead and assisting Michigan football to a 45-7 victory — a win that has some outlets pinning the Maize and Blue as the No. 1 team in the nation.

O’Leary’s touchdown catch on Saturday was his second reception as a Wolverine and the first touchdown of his college career — the same can be said for Denegal, who has also been generating a ton of new buzz in Ann Arbor throughout spring call, fall camp, and more.

“This year, I got big plans,” the rising Michigan football star said back in April. “I want to play on Saturdays … I think I’ll get my opportunity, and that’ll be that. I just gotta run with it.

“It’s a great competition between the room, and I’m just gonna continue to attack it and put the best things I can on tape,” he said. “And hopefully, that will reward me with some playing time on Saturdays.”

Roman Wilson, Cornelius Johnson, and others will continue to headline this year’s Michigan football wide receiver corps; however, O’Leary could continue to earn more reps this fall and is a name to remember moving forward.
