Yesterday, four-star linebacker DJ McClary, a top 100 recruit in the 2025 recruiting class, announced his remaining top eight schools in his recruitment among those that have offered him so far — Michigan football made the cut. The list also includes other major programs like Ohio State and Penn State, which have been strong competitors in the Big Ten East division on the field and the recruiting trail.

The Michigan football recruiting efforts have been successful in the 2024 and 2025 classes. Last night, they secured a commitment from priority four-star edge rusher Elias Rudolph in the 2024 cycle, making him the 25th commit for Jim Harbaugh’s top-five recruiting class. Furthermore, the team received encouraging news from Bryce Underwood, the number one recruit in the nation for the 2025 class, who indicated that Michigan is one of his top schools.

Adding to this week’s positive news, Michigan is also among the top eight choices for DJ McClary, a highly regarded four-star linebacker in the 2025 recruiting class. This puts Michigan football in a strong position with McClary, which is promising for their recruiting efforts as they enter the crucial phase of recruiting for 2025 in the coming months.

The remaining eight schools in McClary’s recruitment are Michigan football, Ohio State, Penn State, South Carolina, Rutgers, USC, Tennessee, and Oregon — all of which are currently considered top-tier programs in the country.

DJ McClary attends Henry Snyder High School in New Jersey and is rated as a four-star linebacker by ON3. He is ranked as the 93rd-best player in the nation, the ninth-best linebacker in the 2025 class, and the third-best recruit in the state of New Jersey. He is a significant target and could be a major acquisition for Michigan football moving forward. According to the RPM, the Nittany Lions appear to hold a steady lead in his recruitment, yet it is still early, and Jim Harbaugh’s Wolverines have plenty of time.
