The 2024 Michigan football recruiting class currently ranks 4th nationally in the composite rankings, boasting 25 hard commits and counting thus far. Right now, Michigan’s current class is among Jim Harbaugh’s best and could continue adding top-ranked blue-chip recruits over the summer. Tomorrow, the Maize and Blue are expected to land a new major target: four-star linebacker Jacob Smith.

Major Michigan football recruiting target to announce decision on Thursday

Recently, it was reported that Jacob Smith, a major four-star Michigan football recruiting target, will be announcing his college decision on Thursday afternoon. The Wolverines already have Jerod Smith, Jacob’s brother and a top-ranked four-star target in the 2024 class, and now appear poised to land Jacob Smith as well.

Michigan football recruiting has been prioritizing Jacob Smith for quite some time, making tomorrow’s announcement quite important for the Wolverines on the recruiting trail. That said, positive news appears to be in order for the Maize and Blue, as per numerous recruiting predictions.

According to the Recruiting Prediction Machine, Michigan football is a heavy favorite to land Jacob Smith with a 94.1% chance. Additionally, Michigan is the leader in crystal balls and RPM picks, making the Wolverines a clear-cut favorite in this race as Smith’s announcement date approaches.

According to the 247 Sports composite rankings, Jacob Smith is a four-star defender in the 2024 recruiting cycle. He ranks as the No. 211 player in the nation, the No. 17 edge rusher in his class, and the No. 4 player in the state of Connecticut.
