Michigan football recruiting receives even more good news with major 4-star EDGE Jacob Smith

Michigan football’s recent success in landing Jerod Smith, a four-star defender and Jacob Smith’s brother, has put them in a strong position to also secure Jacob’s commitment. Initially, Notre Dame was considered a top contender for the Smith brothers, but Jim Harbaugh’s efforts changed the game, and Jerod committed to Michigan.

EJ Holland of The Wolverine (On3) recently predicted that Jacob will follow in his brother’s footsteps and commit to the Wolverines’ 2024 recruiting class, which is a significant development for Harbaugh and his team. The class currently ranked No.1 in the nation, boasts an impressive lineup of 10 four-stars, a five-star, and several three-stars. If Michigan wants to maintain its top ranking, it must continue to recruit talented players like Jacob Smith.

On3’s rankings confirm what many already know: Jacob Smith is a talented four-star EDGE, currently ranked No. 29 in his class and the third-best recruit in Connecticut. 247’s composite rankings also place him at the top, with a national ranking of No. 206, No. 18 among EDGE players, and the third-best recruit in his home state. It’s clear that Smith is a standout player, and this is reflected in his four-star rating across all four major recruiting services.
