Since the start of the 2021 college football season, the Wolverines have been known as a “running back school” due to standout performances from Hassan Haskins, Blake Corum, and Donovan Edwards. Heading into the 2023 season, it’s looking like that will remain the same, and recruits are taking note; now, Michigan football is trending for 2024 elite running back Taylor Tatum out of Texas.
Michigan football named a finalist for elite running back Taylor Tatum
Taylor Tatum is one of Michigan’s top-ranked recruiting targets in the 2024 recruiting class. Michigan football currently boasts the No. 3 class nationally and is trending to continue climbing towards the No. 1 spot — the Wolverines still trail the Ohio State Buckeyes (1) and Georgia Bulldogs (2).
According to the 247 Sports Composite rankings, Taylor Tatum is a 5-foot-11, 205-pound four-star running back recruit out of Longview High School in Texas. Tatum is an elite recruit and is ranked as the No. 33 recruit nationally, the No. 2 running back in the class, and the No. 6 recruit in the state of Texas — elite numbers, to say the least.
Right now, Taylor Tatum has one crystal ball on 247 Sports — it is for the Michigan football team — and he recently released his top-7 finalists; the Wolverines are in some elite company. The seven teams still in the running for Tatum’s commitment are Michigan, Ohio State, Texas, USC, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, and Georgia.
“Michigan’s wins a lot and with the way they always have a couple good RBs every year, I think I could fit there,” he told Hayes Fawcett of On3 when asked about Michigan football.
