Today, the Maize and Blue secured a new four-star commitment for the 2024 recruiting class. Devon Baxter, a highly sought-after edge rusher recruit from Brandywine, Maryland, joined the Wolverines on Monday evening, adding to the already impressive class led by Jim Harbaugh. It has only been three weeks into June, and Michigan continues to strengthen its lineup. This addition brings great excitement to the Wolverines, and no one is more thrilled than Devon Baxter himself, the new Michigan football commit.

New Michigan football commit is buzzing about his announcement

This evening marked a significant milestone for the Michigan football program as they secured their 22nd commitment for the highly regarded 2024 recruiting class. Devon Baxter has been a top-priority recruit for Jesse Minter’s team, and after narrowly missing out on Aaron Chiles last weekend, this achievement is a much-needed victory for the Maize and Blue.

“It’s great,” Baxter told Brian Dohn of 247 Sports. “It definitely doesn’t feel real. My family is real excited. My mom is more about the academics than football. My father and my brother, they are super excited.”

According to the ON3 rankings, Devon Baxter is a four-star pass rusher from Gwynn Park High School in Maryland. He is ranked as the No. 27 edge rusher in the 2024 class and the No. 8 recruit in the state of Maryland. As previously mentioned, Baxter’s commitment is a significant victory for the Wolverines, who are also showing positive signs of adding Elias Rudolph, another four-star pass rusher, to their 2024 recruiting class.

This new addition to the Michigan football program is generating excitement, and it is evident that no one is more thrilled about the announcement than Devon Baxter himself.
