If you thought Jim Harbaugh was done recruiting from the transfer portal in the 2023 cycle, you would be wrong. We are just a few days out from the start of fall camp, yet there is still a new Michigan football transfer portal target — former four-star linebacker Nigel Glover from Northwestern’s 2023 recruiting class.

What should fans know about the top Michigan football transfer portal target?

With the Northwestern football scandal taking the Big Ten by storm, many of the Wildcats’ former players are jumping ship in search of a new home. One of these players is Nigel Glover, a former elite linebacker recruit who was once rated as a top 10 player in the state of Ohio. Despite his long-standing commitment to Northwestern, he is in search of an immediate new home, and Michigan football appears to be among the top contenders.

This week, it was reported that Nigel Glover will be taking an official visit with Michigan football this weekend ahead of the Wolverines’ fall camp. This visit will likely also overlap with Michigan’s annual ‘BBQ at the Big House’ event — a huge recruiting period for Jim Harbaugh and his Wolverines. Additionally, this elite-caliber linebacker target canceled his upcoming visit with Michigan State, which may also bode well down the stretch for the Maize and Blue.

Harbaugh not done with Michigan’s incredible 2023 portal class

Out of high school, Nigel Glover was a four-star linebacker recruit, ranking as the No. 25 linebacker in the nation and the No. 7 player in the state of Ohio, according to the 247 Sports composite recruiting rankings. While Michigan football did not seem to recruit this high-caliber prospect out of high school, perhaps due to his steadfast commitment to Northwestern, the Wolverines were one of the first teams to jump on his recruitment once he entered the transfer portal.

Currently, Glover is on a visit with Kentucky, and he is also eyeing visits with Ohio State and others, though Michigan football may have an edge when it comes to visits due to their big weekend at the Big House on July 30th.

The 2023 Michigan football transfer portal class is already strong, though it’s clear that Jim Harbaugh thinks that it can be even better than it currently is, and is targeting one of the most coveted players on the market right now.
