We are now a few days into July, meaning action on the recruiting front is starting to slow down. So far in the 2024 class, Michigan football recruiting has been impressive, as they currently host one of the nation’s top-ranked classes (No. 4 in composite rankings) with 25 hard commitments and counting. While the Wolverines may not be expecting many more targets to commit soon, there is one decision date that is fast approaching — it could potentially result in another elite four-star wide receiver target pledging his commitment to the Maize and Blue.

Michigan football has done an excellent job securing its future with the 2024 recruiting class. However, there is still a need to provide blue-chip quarterback Jadyn Davis with more weapons to throw to, but this issue may soon be resolved.

Currently, the 2024 Michigan football recruiting class boasts two highly-touted four-star wide receiver commits: Channing Goodwin and I’Marion Stewart. These two players are expected to be key contributors to the Wolverines’ future offense, bringing both talent and chemistry to the Maize and Blue.

Speaking of chemistry, Michigan football is actively seeking to add more of it later this month. As many Wolverines fans know, Jadyn Davis and Channing Goodwin are both teammates in the 2024 class at Providence Day High School in North Carolina, and they have already committed to the Wolverines. Later this month, another talented player from Providence Day could be joining the class. Elite four-star wide receiver Jordan Shipp, one of the most sought-after skill players still on the board, is being heavily pursued by Michigan.

Since Shipp’s official visit in June, several crystal balls and insider predictions have been pointing towards Michigan as his potential destination. His commitment date is set for July 16th, which is a significant date to watch for Maize and Blue fans this summer, as it could mark the 26th commitment for the Wolverines.

According to the 247 Sports composite rankings, Jordan Shipp is ranked as the 61st-best wide receiver in the 2024 recruiting class and the 13th-ranked recruit in the state of North Carolina. If he pledges to the Wolverines as expected, Michigan football will gain another prominent blue-chip target in the 2024 class, further solidifying this recruiting cycle as one of Jim Harbaugh’s best since he took over as head coach in late 2014.
