On July 31st, Michigan football recruiting hosted a major target in the 2025 recruiting class — five-star Belleville High School quarterback Bryce Underwood, the No. 1 recruit in the nation. Right now, the Maize and Blue currently lead in the fierce race for Underwood’s commitment (per the Recruiting Prediction Machine and more), and according to reports, his 10th visit was a smashing success.

Michigan football recruiting is still hot in pursuit of the No. 1 recruit in the nation

Bryce Underwood is undoubtedly the top Michigan football recruiting target in the nation right now, regardless of class or position. Just over a week ago, the five-star quarterback recruit made his 10th trip to Ann Arbor for a visit with the Wolverines for Michigan’s ‘BBQ at the Big House’ event. According to reports, this visit went very well — the Wolverines’ odds in the RPM also went up, now breaking the 40% mark.

On January 6th, 2024, the No. 1 recruit in the nation will announce his college decision — the Wolverines have been doing well on the recruiting trail as of late, though Underwood appears to be a target that Michigan football recruiting simply has to have. Not only is Underwood the top prospect in the country, but he is right in Jim Harbaugh’s backyard, and letting a target of his caliber leave the state would be a massive failure for the Maize and Blue.

“Michigan wanted me there so bad, so I had to show them love,” Underwood said, per The Wolverine. “… It was a good visit.”

Michigan football currently leads in the RPM and in visits — the Wolverines have gotten the No. 1 recruit in the nation to campus a whopping 10 times, which is far more than the next closest school (Michigan State), which has gotten him in town five times thus far. There are a few top teams in Underwood’s recruitment right now, though it seems that this massive battle for the nation’s top prospect could come down to Michigan football, LSU, Ohio State, and Alabama. For the time being, things are looking good for the Maize and Blue, though the LSU Tigers have been making a huge push in recent months, so keep an eye out as everything unravels in the final months of Underwood’s recruitment.
